This occurs whichever port at the back of the machine I plug the device into. I'm running the latest VIA 4in1 drivers. This does seem to be a problem as I have a 2800XP+ (Barton) in the ASUS A7V8x-x motherboard, i have updated the BIOS (even tried the Beta a7v8xx1014 version), removed all memory and reset the CMOS, changed FSB settings in the BIOS, reinstalled Windows, updated MB and videocard drivers (XFX Geforce 6200 w/ 512MB ram). The keyboard might be the problem (bizarre but true) - I got mine past this freezing point by sticking it in a different USB port. I also lowered the CPU clock speed. See if that helps at all.
